update 5/22 - the laptop is sold!
Okay I'll get to the puppies in a sec... But first I wanna tell you about a totally crazy idea I had.
See, it's kinda cool running a small internet business, and there are a few perks here and there. One of 'em is the ability to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies (okay, gadgets). That's my way of reconciling/justifying the purchase of new MacBook Pro's pretty much every year - whether it's for me or my wife (the "She-EO").
The best part is, since we're operating a small business, we can write 'em off our taxes!
So I just got hold of the latest & greatest MacBook Pro and was thinking about what to do with my not-so-old one... Usually they get handed-down to family members or they just burn up and fall apart due to the massive overuse.
(Whoever said you can run an internet business just a few hours a day and make millions... lies. Unless it was me that said it... in that case it's totally true and super easy. But I digress.)
But this little baby is different. The MacBook Pro I'm trading up from has been a faithful traveling companion for the last 12 months. During that time it's:
- Been cross country & back... twice.
- Launched 3 new products/sites
- Went through a bunch of airport security screenings
- Watched countless movies
- Acted as my digital jukebox
- and rendered hundreds of hours of video and audio
...all without skipping a beat.
Never had a single problem with it. Ever.
But when Apple released the new MBP's with the Core i7 processor, my inner geek told me I just had to have one. So I took the plunge... leaving my faithful mac a discarded treasure of my internet past.
At this point I could do one of two things.
I let some joe-shmo buy it off eBay, or...
Offer it to YOU.
One of my peeps.
For a special "peeps only" price.
...and loaded with tons of extra goodness to run YOUR internet business.
SO I figured I'd give this a shot. I've never done anything like this before but there's a good chance that one of my 8,000+ subscribers might be in the market for a new Mac or just want to join the "cool kids" and take the plunge on this slightly-used, hyper-dependable rig.
With that said, lemme tell you about the specs on this bad boy, as well as all the "extras" you're gonna get.
Officially Apple calls this the 15" MacBook Pro (late-2008) - although it didn't make its way into my life until I walked out of the Apple Store with it in early 2009.
It's running the Intel Core2Duo @ 2.66Ghz, 4Gb RAM, massive 320Gb hard drive, slot-loaded Superdrive, Nvidia GeForce 9400M graphics running 256Mb of VRAM and 1440x900 widescreen glossy display.
This machine was the top-of-the-line 15" MacBook Pro when I originally purchased it, damaging my checkbook to the tune of$2,200.
Here's the little "system profile" thingy to let you know what's in it...

I added to that the 3 year AppleCare protection plan (the best computer warranty on the planet!) for an extra $349, which is good until May 2012.

It's the first generation of the new "unibody" Macs, which still had a removable battery (the new ones don't have a replaceable battery). It also has an expresscard slot that you can use for something such as the Sonnet 21-in-1 Card Reader
...
So that's the hardware... Pretty damn impressive specs - a supercomputer by any reasonable definition. But what about software...
Well here's everything I've added to it, and "street prices" if you were to do the same:
- Microsoft Office for Mac 2008 ($349)
- iWork ($79)
- Adobe Creative Suite CS4 - Web Edition ($1,699), which contains:
- Photoshop
- Acrobat Pro
- Dreamweaver
- Illustrator
- Fireworks
- Soundbooth
- Flash
- Contribute
- Bridge
- Media Encoder
- Final Cut Express ($299)
- Final Cut Pro 7 ($999)
- Toast Titanium ($299)
- onOne Plug-in Suite 5 ($499)
- BBEdit ($125)
- Screenflow ($99)
- iShowU HD ($60)
- Camtasia for Mac ($99)
- Panic Coda ($99)
- Panic Transmit ($34)
- Desktastic ($15)
...and just a whole bunch of other programs. Here's a snapshot of everything installed, just in case I left out anything important above.

So if you were to buy all that stuff and install it, you're looking at another $4,754 in software!
Needless to say, this is the absolute cream-of-the-crop software for running a web business. The best design tools, the best video/screencast production tools, and a bunch of utilities that will make production a breeze.
So already this is a machine with a "street value" of over $7,000!
But that's not all... Not by a long shot.
Because I'm also going to leave my massive collection of internet marketing tools, products, wisdom and swipes. Here's just a taste of what's waiting in your "Documents" directory:
- Jeff Johnson's Product Launch Formula 2.0 course ($1,497)
- Michelle MacPhearson's Crowd Mountain 2.0 course ($127/month)
- Frank Kern's MassControl (the ultimate IM product) $2,997
- Andy Jenkin's Video Boss blueprints
- a bunch of Armand Morin's stuff
- Pretty much everything from Dylan @ Monetize Design
- Fast Food Copywriting & other stuff by Robert Plank
- PSD TUTS+ WordPress guide
- Pipeline Profits system
- and a bunch of Niche Blueprint, Mike Filsaime and Launch Tree items.
PLUS
- A bunch of videos from PeepCode to help you crank out some killer products & screencasts
- 20 downloaded videos from Izzy Video
- and 2 photography workshops from JoeyL
...and of course you'll have all the source code, downloads and themes from all MY products.
All told this is well over $6,500 in IM stuff, not to mention the swipes and other designs I've pulled down off the interwebs.
That's a running total of $13,500 worth of hardware, software and products all encompassed in one beautiful package!
...and I want you to have it!
...for just $2,000.
Here are a few more photos...

What's the catch?
Well, there isn't one, really. As I mentioned though, this has been my faithful traveling companion for the last year and you probably know by now... I can be rough on my equipment.
So this laptop has a few "beauty marks" from going through security checkpoints at the airports and the one unfortunate drop in United's Red Carpet club (where ironically there wasn't a single scrap of red carpet to cushion the blow).

Nothing a strategically placed sticker or laptop cover
wouldn't hide, and it sure as heck didn't damage anything on the inside. These unibody mac's are tougher than nails, and the integrated drop-lock hard drive protection is pretty darn cool.
You want it? Just let me know, or paypal me $2,000 and I'll ship it out to you FedEx (free within the continental US... if you're outside of the states let me know). I'll update my blog if/when it sells, so you'll know.
If you want it, it's yours.

All the best,
Cam
PS - I know I mentioned puppies... I saw this cute little guy at the table next to me here at Baja Fresh (where I'm eating a burrito and hacking out this post) and had to snag a picture. A cross between a chihuahua and a wiener dog...
